The powers that be require us to tag all images on Illogicopedia with appropriate copyright status.
When tagging images you will usually need the {{GFDL}} template, as the majority of pictures are licensed under GNU.

The templates
Edit
GNU images
Edit
- {{GFDL}}, for most images. Anything uploaded to any Wikia wiki is licensed under GNU Public Documentation license.
- {{GFDL-self}} - same as above but created entirely by yourself. An example would be Welcome.png.
- {{GPL}} - image is free software.
- {{WikiaScreenshot}} for screengrabs of Wikia wikis including Illogicopedia. Since the Wikia software is licensed under GNU, all screenshots are also. An example would be EPIC FLAIL.PNG.
Fair use
Edit
These images are copyrighted but uploaded to Illogicopedia for use in "critical reviews". Remember to post a rationale (why it is relevant for your article) for the image or it may be deleted.
- {{Fairuse}} for most copyrighted images including DVD covers, works of art and book covers.
- {{TVScreenshot}} for television screenshots and logos. Pretty self-explanatory.
| This image is a screenshot of a copyrighted television program, film, advertisement, video game or station ID. As such, the copyright for it is most likely owned by the company or corporation that produced it. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots for identification and critical commentary on the station ID or program and its contents qualifies as fair use under US Copyright Law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, might be copyright infringement. For more information, see Wikipedia:Non-free content. To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline, as well as the source of the work and copyright information. |
Public domain
Edit
Images whose copyright have expired.
- {{PD}}, for images in the public domain. These include very old works (where the author died more than 100 years ago), rasterised fonts from typefaces or maps over 50 years old.
Other
Edit
- {{Copyedit}} - image is an edit of pixels from various sources. Where appropriate, supplement with other tags such as the GFDL one.
- {{CFU}}, copyrighted free use.
- {{CC}}, for images licensed under the Creative Commons thingy.
